Kerala, which is considered as the God's own country, is a densely populated state situated in the southern part of India. The state topped in each and every aspects of human life, especially in the field of literacy, health care, per capita income, Panchayati Raj System and export and import of essential commodities like cashew nuts and other important spices to all parts of the world .Now, the state is reeling under a terror like situation, due to lack of industrialization, development in the field of agriculture. Keralites, who are the most educated and intelligent ones, now lack in most of the fields in comparison to some similar states of India.
KERALA IN THE 19th CENTURY:-
Racism was the main threat where the upper class treated people of lower class as slaves. The lower class people were prohibited to enter into the temples, they were not even permitted to wear proper clothes. Education, worship, lordship of properties were the rights of upper class only. Swami Vivekananda, the Lord of all time India, once called Kerala, the land of madness.
Later, the reforms, already prevailing in Kerala had been changed by Lord Sri Narayana Guru. Christian Missionaries had implemented the theme of Sri Narayana Guru ("education is the main weapon to change the scenario"). In the late 20th century, racism was plucked from the society.
Zamindari system was another issue that prevailed in that age. 80% of the land was under the control of zamindar landlords, who were about 20% of the total population of the entire state. The remaining 80% of the population were consisting of backward classes, who were the persons constituting of the labour class people.
In order to protect the rights of labours in industries and factories, Trade Unions were formed. The trade union customized the workshedule of the labours. They implemented 8 hours duty.
After independence, inspired by the growth of countries like Russia and China, Communist party emerged in Kerala. Various land reforms took place which regained land with the labourers. Thus, the labourers had little land and cattle forms with them for earning their livelihood.
But, land reforms was not effective, as the land was owned by only a few people of the society. Rice was the main cultivation. The labourers were given some percentage of the entire quantity of rice they have collected from the field, as their wages. The total agriculture depends upon the monsoon as there was no irrigational facilities existed in Kerala. The irregularity of monsoon made the labourers suffer. At that time, it was necessary to develop the trade union in order to prevent the employment of labourers, under the extant Labour Rules.
As time passed, these Unions over-powered the landlords and the factory owners. Many factories were shut down . Factories and other establishments were slowly shifted to other states, which also worsened the level of middle class people.
The middle class people started shifting to other States and Gulf countries. Life in those States and Gulf countries became more miserable as they (the middle class people who were shifted to these countries) could not find job according to their qualification and experience. Literates of Kerala, were seen doing repair works in the streets of cities like Delhi, Bombay, Ahmadabad and other cities.
After two-three years of hardwork, these people, who reached home, were not able to live due to the hinderness of labour union and other factors existing in the state, were compelled to get away from the state. Loading and unloading were the rights of only the members of trade union and no one else was permitted to do the same.
Later, these trade Unions, pay wages, according to the existing trade union rates. They will not permit anybody accept persons enrolled in the so called labour Union. In each and every fields, these groups were formed which turned out to be a major affecting factor in the development of the state, as these so called anti social groups were dominated the day to day life of the people.
Presently, Print and electronic Media, hospitals are controlled by these type of Unions. These Unions were cropped up in every junction of the state. Bandh is a common phenomenon in the state, due to which the life of the people becomes miserable.
The development programme in the state is at the comma stage, due to the above mentioned types of illegal and insensitive activities.
CAN THESE UNIONS AND THEIR AFFILIATED PARTIES, ARE ABLE TO BRING BACK, THE MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE, LEFT OUT OF THE STATE, DUE TO THE ATROCITY OF THE TRADE UNIONS, SO AS TO MAINTAIN PEACE AND PROSPERITY IN THE STATE. CAN THIS UNION BE ABLE TO REVERSE THEIR POLICIES OR TO MAINTAIN THEIR STAUS QUE. LET US WAIT AND SEE THE RESULT OF THE SAME AS THE TIME PASSES.
